One race down. One to go this weekend in Providence, RI.
First off thank you to all of you that participated in this past weekend's Atlantic City Indoor Race. The event ran off very smoothly and your cooperation had a lot to do with that.
Anyone that is entered for this weekend's event Providence, but will not be able to make it do mechanical problems are urged to please let us know. Our entry list for this weekend is full and we do have racer's looking to get in the event. Please let us know ASAP if you will not be able to make the race.
For those of you traveling to Providence this weekend. We will park trailers Friday evening from 5pm to 10pm in the lot behind the arena. You will not be able to unload your cars or tools until Saturday morning at 8am but we will get you parked.
To get behind the arena you will make a right on LaSalle Square off of Sabin St. The Dunkin Donuts Center will be on your right hand side and LaSalle Square runs between the arena and the Hilton where most of you will be staying.
As many of you know there will be a hockey game going on Friday night starting at 7pm. As soon as the hockey game is completed the hall staff will be begin removing the ice and converting the arena over for our event. There will be concrete barriers being placed and a lot of activity going on. If you arrive after 10pm please do not park yourself behind the arena, we will need everyone's cooperation to get the arena set-up and ready to go before morning. Those arriving at this time will need to park in the hotel parking lot or find a spot on West Exchange Street or the bus parking area at the end of that street.
Practice is scheduled to begin at 1pm with time trials not slated to begin until 6pm. If the track surface is not ready to go at our scheduled practice time we may delay the start to insure a qualify racing surface. Your help in unloading the cars, parking the trailers and being flexible throughout the day will be very important to the show's success.
Setting the track up over night and running a one-day show is a new experience for everyone. However if this model can be achieved and successful it might be something that can be applied at other arenas.
